The best burger joint in town, Pound’s compact menu has revived the traditional American diner scene with a modern twist. Eating burgers is a wonderfully messy activity, the design approach focused on the raw and animalistic side of truly enjoying your meal. No posturing, no fancy mirrors, no bullshit, just burgers.

Hoku is a casual fast food restaurant located in Monterrey, Mexico, that specializes in customizable poke bowls with fresh assorted fish, local ingredients and house made sauces. Poke is a typical dish in Hawaiian cuisine, and means “section” or “to slice or cut”.
In the design exploration for Hoku we decided to make a fusion with Hawaii and Mexico. Given that Hoku means “star” in Hawaiian language, we created an icon that represented both cultures, and came up with a starfish with thorns. This way, the starfish represents all seafood and the thorns represent a Mexican cactus. You can see the same fusion of cultures in the color palette selected.
To continue with the concept of fusion of both cultures we developed patterns influenced by the Hawaiian aesthetic with Mexican iconography. We used an iconic Hawaiian typeface for the logo with a secondary typeface of Mexican influence for the slogan Poke Shop.
For the interior design we decided to implement the iconic Martinique wallpaper which gives it a tropical look, alongside materials like oak wood finish, rope and natural mesh for the pendants. Pops of pink are on certain details such as the neon sign and exterior chairs.

The location of Marché Saint Pierre was the inspiration behind the name we chose for this unique French café. It is located in the heart of San Pedro (a municipality in Monterrey), otherwise Saint Pierre in the French language. Our client’s goal was for this place to be a café as well as a market where you can get all sorts of local products.
The restaurant’s branding was inspired by French typographic design. We designed icons for each of its menu sections (ex. crepes, salads, aperitifs etc.) to create a modern pattern which contrasts nicely with its classically inspired typographic design.
Located on a third floor with windows on all perimeters, this quaint little spot is the best place to sip a coffee with the best view of the mountains and forests nearby. The black and white checkered floor, the dark and rustic wood and the moldings on the ceilings are a few of the things that helped transmit the French style. The gingham fabric used for seat cushions made the place all the more cozy. At night the place opens its windows that connect to the terrace, decorated with plants and hanging lightbulbs, making it a wonderful ambiance for a casual weeknight.

La Lotería restaurant, located in New York City, is a new take on authentic Mexican cuisine. The kitchen specializes in traditional Mexican dishes with a modern presentation.
The game La Lotería has been played throughout Mexico since Colonial times. Similar in concept to American Bingo, it is played using 54 widely varied characters and symbols of Mexican culture (like the skull, the moon, the mermaid & the rooster), and it was the source of inspiration for the brand’s design. Considering the authentic nature of its cuisine with its modern twist, we redesigned the entire 54 card deck using its original illustrations with a combination of pictures from modern day life.
For the interior design we incorporated a ceramic tile made by Mexican artisans. We chose a traditional pattern with a black and white color scheme to give it a modern look. The bar area is made of rustic metal and concrete, and we added yellow barstools for a pop of color. The loteria cards we redesigned were used as wall décor and framed them in white. Other accents include typical Mexican decorations such as huichol, cactus plants and ceramic vases.

Nobby is a beauty parlor located in Monterrey, Mexico, that specializes in hair drying. The term Nobby is British slang for fashionable, elegant, stylish, and chic. By taking into account inspiration from beauty parlors of the fifties, we developed a concept that represents these qualities.
The logo is conformed by an organic typeface that evokes the natural movement of hair. It gives the sensation of continuity, as it is a string of hair that never ends and even slides out the margins. The color palette is inspired again by the fifties vibe.
The interior design respects the same color palette used throughout the branding, which is black with pastels. The black and white floor tiles give it a vintage feel and the pastels are seen in the mirror frames and wallpaper. The black chairs and black subway tile give it a modern spin.

The meaning behind a butterfly is what originated the concept for Ana Paula Faz’s psychotherapy practice. The butterfly in many cultures is the symbol for transformation, change and happiness. Given the fact that the whole purpose of psychotherapy is to improve the well-being and mental health of the patients, we thought the butterfly would be a perfect fit.
For the color palette we used as reference several brain scans that are considered healthy and happy. The structure and form of the logo was also based on the same brain scans.
The typography used gives formality to Ana Paula’s practice and was considered a good contrast to the more organic and colorful logotype, designed using watercolors to achieve a more emotional and expressive image.

A public notary is a business that forms an integral part in the functioning of a society. It is also a business with a lot of history and prestige. Keeping this in mind, we decided to represent those qualities using classic typefaces such as Big Calson, in combination with more neutral and modern typefaces such as Baron Nue to give a modern spin on an established practice.
The inspiration for the identity of the business is the act of signing a document. There is a very known saying in the English language that says “sign on the dotted line”. Without using a pen as a symbol per se, we decided to focus on the designated space left in every document to sign.

James & Co. is a business in Mexico City that designs and fabricates custom made clothes and suits for men. With this in mind, we turned to fraternities and secret societies to build our concept. The main goal of this business is for men to be part of a club, to gain a sense of belonging and exclusive membership when they are wearing these suits.
Following the concept mentioned earlier, we chose a color palette that would reflect the values that James & Co. represents. Royal purple was selected, as it has been associated with royalty, power and wealth for centuries. Purple’s elite status stems from the rarity and cost of the dye originally used to produce it. To support this color we chose burnt orange which gives it the most contrast.
Two contrasting typefaces were used: Exodus and Montserrat. We thought these would give the brand personality and presence. For the icon we used a hand (important symbol used in secret societies) forming a “J” with the index finger and thumb, to form the initial of James & Co.
